Overview
As per amendment to Mumbai Tenancy and Agriculture Land Act 1948 (Amendment 1994 & 2005) Section 63(I)(A), powers to grant permission to purchase agricultural land above 10 hectares for Bonafide Industrial Use have been vested with Development Commissioner (Industries).

Eligibility Criteria for permission given under Mumbai Tenancy and Agriculture Land Act 1948 (Amendment 1994 & 2005)
- As per amendment to Mumbai Tenancy and Agriculture Land Act 1948 (Amendment 1994 & 2005) Section 63(I)(A), powers to grant permission to purchase agricultural land above 10 hectares for Bonafide Industrial Use have been vested with Development Commissioner (Industries). Hence, such permissions are issued through Directorate of Industries, Mumbai.
- Bonafide Industrial Use means the activity of manufacture, preservation or processing of goods, or any handicraft, or industrial business or enterprise, carried on by any person, and shall include construction of industrial buildings used for the manufacturing process or purpose, or power projects and ancillary industrial usage like research and development, godown, canteen, office building of the industry concerned or providing housing accommodation to the workers of the industry concerned, or establishment of an industrial estate including a co-operative industrial estate, service industry, cottage industry, gramodyog units or gramodyogvasahats.
- As per the simplification, following are some general norms for requirement of land in respect of typical industries.
